A family trip to see Sasha huh? Interesting. :)
Fox-Jake 30th Oct 2020, 12:02 AM
It looks like Russell has a hard time letting go of grudges.
FreyFox 30th Oct 2020, 1:36 AM
Tell me about it. I'm still bitter over a few things that happened to me over 20 years ago.
Tom Jankowski 30th Oct 2020, 4:01 AM
The same with me.
Fox-Jake 30th Oct 2020, 4:55 AM
I understand, my dude. I'm still kinda mad at a so called friend because he screwed me over back in 2018.
Long Tom 31st Oct 2020, 2:44 PM
It's easy to say "Let go of a grudge." But that's like letting go of cancer. You just cannot get rid of it.
Fox-Jake 31st Oct 2020, 10:16 PM
“Easier said than done” I guess
Long Tom 1st Nov 2020, 2:02 PM
Or "cannot be done at all".

You know I do tend to relate with Russ probably the most in this strip, but Linda's right, he's being a true stubborn stick-in-the-mud right now. He's not realizing what Linda's saying: that people can change. But of course to change, one must want to change for themselves; no one can make you change for you. I'm sure Reg's interest in her has helped, but it's also the desire to be a better person and not always be a low-life criminal that's probably spurred Sasha the most. Too bad Russ doesn't seem to get that...

Well, this is certainly interesting that the folks want to actually meet Sasha. Speaking of which, isn't it about time she was released from prison, or has she already been released and that happened off screen? I think it's been about the length of time she was sentenced to or very close to that...
FreyFox 30th Oct 2020, 1:37 AM
She doesn't come out of jail off screen, no.

Especially not after about a couple dozen strips ago where she assaulted one of the prisoners with a lunch tray.
FreyFox 31st Oct 2020, 1:09 AM
It was more than that, lol :P

Linda and Russell’s parents have finally forced Russell to deal with his feud with Reggie. Despite Russell’s misgivings, they are going to arrange a prison visit with Sasha. Sasha should complete her eighteen-month sentence by the time Reggie returns from Japan. Maybe a prison visit with Sasha might be enough to change Russell’s mind about her.

Sasha told Reggie that she wanted to change her ways and be more than friends. However, Russell was still concerned that Sasha had not changed her ways. Russell was also worried that Sasha would end up dragging Reggie down with her. Reggie disagreed with Russell’s assessment, causing a rift between the two of them ever since.

Reggie tried to explain to Russell that Sasha wanted to make changes to her life after her release. However, Russell has refused to believe that Sasha wants to change her life around. (Although Sasha’s brother Charlie warned her to end her relationship with Reggie, he was encouraged that she wanted to turn her life around in the same way that he did. Charlie had just finished his jail sentence and had just gotten a job in a warehouse.)

You cannot blame people for not believing a supposedly remorseful person is completely insincere:

The liberals were all saying what a martyr he was, but it was all for show as his final hours indicated.

If Williams had pled guilty to the four murders he was accused of and agreed to help take down his street gang, his plea for clemency might have been credible. I read a Wikipedia article that noted that he was a gang leader and a gang counselor at the same time. In a previous parole hearing, he said that he wanted to be a major gang leader upon his release.

Kidnapping is a serious offense, but it is hard to compare it to capital murder. Sasha should be grateful that she was not sentenced to the twenty-year maximum.

If the justice system is going to make things harder for an ex-con to find a job upon release, it may as well lock that person up and super-glue the lock.

I thought that she had four more months to serve after that fight with another inmate. It seems like it has been two years since Sasha began her sentence.

Wait, I almost forgot. The strip is running a month behind. The birth of Amanda ran a little over.
FreyFox 31st Oct 2020, 1:08 AM
Yes, but then we moved onto another chapter after that which would have began in early 2020...
kennethsarmstrong 31st Oct 2020, 10:14 AM
Then this means that this storyline takes place around mid-February. (I could be wrong, though.)
FreyFox 31st Oct 2020, 10:48 AM
You are completely wrong.
Anon 31st Oct 2020, 3:38 PM
If it were in February, Amanda would still be in newborn phase because she was established to be born in December, but we know this is incorrect because in strips prior we see her able to crawl and have some verbal ability. Plus she isn’t even a year old so it couldn’t be next February either. That guess is way off
kennethsarmstrong 2nd Nov 2020, 12:07 PM
I did say that I was not sure of the timeline. Amanda is ten months old, so this strip must have taken place around mid-October.

Yeah, Russell! Chill the F out!

I've had good friends that just stabbed me in the back multiple times... Now I feel as though I've changed when it comes to making friends...
Guest 30th Oct 2020, 1:16 AM
Uh-oh, for Reggie, this would not look good if he wants to be with Sasha - having a history to be in jail can give a negative impact towards parents.
However, I've heard of many stories of success even when someone was in jail in the past. An example in the States is Greg Mathis-the colored man was in jail, but then went to law school and eventually has his own television program as a judge. He is the longest serving black man to be a judge.
What would Sasha have in her future when she gets out of jail, and that her action was in a way, a good deed? (Would all the Harveys believe it if she said her part of the story?)
kennethsarmstrong 2nd Nov 2020, 12:01 PM
I do not want to be a politically correct prude, but the use of the term "colored" is cringeworthy and dated.

It'll be interesting to see how Belinda's plan pans out. I know hospitals have a generous policy on visitors( prior to the pandemic ), but am unsure what special conditions would have to be met for jail visitors.
kennethsarmstrong 31st Oct 2020, 10:20 AM
Most lockups have limited the number of persons that can visit at one time. Sometimes those persons have to be cleared before visiting.
WCP 30th Oct 2020, 5:43 PM
Wow. Five minutes since arriving and already Belinda be all like: https://sta.sh/01ebltnn02l3
FreyFox 31st Oct 2020, 1:13 AM
She certainly likes to get things done :)
kennethsarmstrong 3rd Nov 2020, 6:04 AM
There must be something else going on other than the Harvey twins arguing over Sasha. There was also the matter of Russell not wanting to give Reggie help with a job reference.
